Marvel’s #AgentCarter: Tuesday Epicness

Marvel needed to fill our Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hole. (Sounds dirty) I mean that show’s not coming back til March and they left us with one mother of a cliffhanger. Agent Carter is my Marvel fix. This is Marvel’s first show with a female as the headliner.

The story focus on Peggy Carter, the female from Captain America: The First Avenger. She’s like a superhero. It’s awesome. She’s an officer for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R.).

Howard Stark is on the run having been framed for supplying deadly weapons to the top bidder. Someone broke into his “vault” and stole his “Bad Babies.” Awesome name by the way. They’re his most destructive…toys. Stark asks Peggy to help him collect his bad babies and clear his name. She does this secretly because everyone else in S.S.R. believes Stark is a criminal.

Peggy is sassy. The dialogue alone makes this show worth it. It has those awesome one-liners we’ve come to expect from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Peggy knows how to stand up for herself and for the little guy. She’s the type of character that comes off hard, but has a kind heart. Can be a bit cliche, but she’s fun. The story makes her even more relatable with the scenes of her grieving for Steve Rogers. I love her wardrobe and I don’t even like dresses.

Jarvis is like her sidekick. Yes, Jarvis like Tony Stark’s computer. This Jarvis is Howard Stark’s butler.  He’s a lot of fun too. The witty banter between him and Peggy is hilarious. They have this emotional scene towards the end. The best scene so far. I will say it. He’s hot.

Agent Carter can make you a bit angry though. It’s set in the 40s. Women weren’t highly thought of. The show gives us men treating Peggy like an idiot simply because she’s female. On the other end, Peggy goes into an interview for a new apartment and she has to justify her job to her female landlord saying she’s only with the S.S.R. until she gets married.

Agent Carter is heavy on the girl power. It’s all about how awesome Peggy is. The story also follows four men working in Peggy’s office–S.S.R. They’re on the Howard Stark case. They are bland. I don’t even remember their names. Don’t know why we need scenes focusing on them. Maybe they become important later in the show. They’re complete douches. We all but one. Jarvis and Stark gave the episode a good balance.

I can’t wait for the next episode.

I kinda feel bad for Marvel. At this point everything they touch turns to gold. What happens when they make a crappy movie or TV show? Hopefully, that’ll never happen. Talk about pressure.

Well, there was Iron Man 3, which had a weird ending and they messed up Mandarin. Marvel bounced back from that. That’s only because anything is better than Iron Man 2.

We got a teaser of Ant-Man at the end of Agent Carter. I’ve got to hand it to Marvel. I don’t like Ant-Man yet the hype behind that teaser had me waiting for it.

Not half bad. Not overly excited about it. I’ll see it because it’s Marvel. Kinda wondering why this movie comes out after Age of Ultron. Ant-Man helped create Ultron. We’ll see how this plays out.
